Transformation by Hitch Fit Gym Transformer Sara Sutherland in Kansas City

It is always fun to have a runner as a client…. You never have to worry about cardio getting done! However, learning how to incorporate strength training to their weekly miles is always another unique challenge! Lauren had some very specific goals in mind when she started, and over her Hitch Fit transformation, she successfully worked toward those goals all while learning a lot about herself along the way! I am very proud of her and all she accomplished! Definitely looking forward to watching her continue to get stronger and stronger to run faster and faster!

Start: October 28, 2013 at 141.2 lbs and 31.62% body fat

Lauren’s Testimonial:
“Growing up, I suffered from childhood obesity. At the age of 17, I finally took control of my weight and lost close to 100lbs. After that, I devoted my life to nutrition and helping people make healthier food choices, but I never really put much emphasis on physical activity.
In January of 2013, I took a look at my life and realized that I was always having to watch my caloric intake. I was over-fat, and I was not happy. I decided I needed to take control of my life again and to conquer my fear of physical activity. Specifically, I needed to conquer my fear of running.
I could never have imagined the way running changed my life. Every time that I ran farther than I thought I could or faster than before, I felt this “high”. Before long, running became therapy for me: I found myself happiest when I was running. However, after years of inactivity, my body could not handle the stress I was putting it through. I was a slow runner, and I was constantly getting hurt. Every time I went into the doctor with IT band syndrome or bursitis, I would get comments on how weak I was or how I had no muscle strength. Furthermore, even though I worked out 5 days a week and ate a pretty clean diet, I was not losing weight or body fat.
After completing my first half marathon at a slow 2 hours and 45 minutes while dealing with IT band syndrome and hip bursitis in one leg, I knew it was time for a change. I had seen individuals on Facebook go though Hitch Fit, and I had always been impressed with their results. I spent hours reading over others’ testimonials and reading each trainer’s bio, and I knew Sara would be the best trainer for me.
The program itself was easier than I thought it would be. I was already eating pretty well, so we just changed the timing of my meals, and I had to take alcohol out of my diet, which I found the be the hardest part of the program. I was already doing cardio 5-6 times per week, so we added 3-4 strength-training workouts to my routine.
Sara was great to work with. She was always encouraging and positive. I
was constantly afraid of hurting my hips or legs again, and when I thought I could not do something, Sara always reminded me that I could and pushed me to finish the workout.
While working with Sara, I started to train for my next half marathon. During my long runs, I found myself running close to 2:30 mins/mile faster than I had before and not experiencing any of the hip pain I had grown to associate with running. I even completed my goal of running a 5k in under 30:00 minutes.
While I didn’t lose much weight, I lost a lot of body fat, making me healthier and giving me more confidence.

I can’t thank Sara enough for helping me and working with me even when,at times, I wanted to give up. I am now a stronger runner and healthier person. I can’t wait to run my next half marathon and blow my previous time out of the water.”
