How To Lose Over 100 pounds In Your 50’s

I’ll never forget that first day with Rob. As we sat down to discuss his goals and how to lose over 100 pounds in your 50’s, the gravity of his situation hit me like a lightning bolt. This wasn’t merely about shedding a few pounds; it was a matter of life and death. Rob was in a battle, not just with weight, but with a lifestyle that was slowly suffocating him—food and alcohol had ensnared him in their grip. Just a month before we met, he had faced a near-fatal episode in Mexico—an undeniable wake-up call that pushed him to seek transformation through Hitch Fit.

That day, I had to be brutally honest with him. I could see the pain in his eyes as my words pierced through his defenses. I told him the truth he desperately needed to hear: he was living dangerously, embodying the “fat funny guy” stereotype—and it wasn’t what his loving wife signed up for. Hearing that raw truth was a hard blow, but from that moment, he ignited a fire within himself. With resilience I’d never seen before, Rob poured his heart and soul into his transformation journey, and after a few incredible metamorphoses, he stood proud on the WBFF World Championship Stage at 55 years old, ready to compete in the Transformation Category. Absolutely breathtaking!

**ROB’S STORY**

I found myself on a vacation in Mexico, blissfully ignoring the storm brewing beneath the surface of my life. I was severely overweight, tipping the scales at 267 pounds with over 40% body fat. On the third day of our trip, chaos struck when I realized I had forgotten my blood pressure meds at home. Panic set in as my vision blurred, my heart raced, and I struggled to walk, completely out of balance. Thankfully, my wife sprang into action, acquiring medication from a local pharmacy that saved me from an impending disaster.

That moment was a turning point, a reality check that led my wife and me to reach out to Micah and Diana Chaloux LaCerte at Hitch Fit, recognizing that our health needed to take center stage. Our consultation appointments were made right then and there, even while we were still in paradise.

My wife’s consultation broke her down emotionally, the reality of my health hitting her like a freight train. A few days later, I met Micah. His words were blunt and unfiltered: I was the “fat funny guy,” and the path I was on was a destructive one—not just for me, but for my wife as well. I needed to commit to change—immediately.

Initially, it stung, but I fell in love with the process from the start. I envisioned becoming a Hitch Fit Transformation Coach myself, igniting that transformation flame within me. 9 Months later I celebrated my first victory: I had lost 75 pounds of fat and discovered a sense of vitality I had long forgotten. It felt like the beginning of a miracle, and I was ready for more.

I inspire wasd by my newfound strength, I set my sights on competing in fitness show. I would win that show which had over 80 competitors and I qualified for Worlds. Yet, just as I was on the brink of life-changing success, tragedy struck. Our 27-year-old daughter, a victim of addiction, suddenly needed our help. She arrived with her young daughter in tow, pregnant and battling a methamphetamine addiction. For six arduous months, we fought alongside her until the birth of her child.

But shortly after, the darkness returned; my daughter relapsed and left her children in our care. We were faced with an impossible choice—letting go of her for their sake and adopting our grandchildren. The emotional toll was devastating, and I succumbed to my own struggles, allowing food and overeating to fill the void.

After all of this stress my weight hit 35 pounds above my stage weight from my 1st competition. I knew it is time for a reversal. I re-committed to my dream of competing again and dedicated myself to intense preparation for an Amateur show in Orlando. I pushed harder than ever, stepping on stage at my leanest—9.5% body fat—and achieving a place in the top 5. At that moment, I had lost an incredible 110 pounds since I began my transformation!

Since that day in Orlando, I’ve continued to work tirelessly, striving for even greater heights. Now, I find myself on the cusp of fulfilling a lifelong dream—walking onto the stage at Worlds which is the pro stage. My story, I believe, resonates with so many in my shoes: middle-aged individuals navigating unexpected life challenges, battling their own demons of depression and food addiction, and preparing for the world stage while juggling the demands of entrepreneurship.

Moreover, as co-founder and president of In The Name Of GRACE, an organization providing recovery beds for those wrestling with addiction, I’ve seen first hand the impact of our struggles on those around us.

I’ve been blessed to hear how my journey has inspired others—my story, my presence in the gym, and my engagements on social media have lit a spark in many who yearn for change. I always say, “When you prioritize your own health, everyone around you benefits.” Together, we rise. Together, we transform. My story shows you How to lose over 100 pounds in your 50’s
