Matt’s Story:

Tell me about why you started your transformation journey.

At the start, I had been a member at Prairie Life for about three years.  I was doing 9-10 miles a week on the treadmill.  I wanted to work more of my total body, but was a bit uneducated and intimidated with how to approach it.  One of the big reasons why I want to push myself is that my wife and I are expecting our first child soon.  I want to be in great shape, and create better habits, so that our daughter will eventually learn, and pick up on the fact that diet and exercise/being active, are just a part of everyday life.

Tell me about your transformation.

I started at 166 lb., and 11.47% body fat.  In 4 weeks (8 sessions), I ended at 164 lb., and 8.50% body fat.  I started eating purposefully, cutting out most things with added sugars, and stopped drinking alcohol.  I really like craft beers and IPAs, and as hard as I thought it was going to be, I don’t really miss it.  I have a new direction that takes the focus away from “I could really enjoy a beer at the end of the day,” mentality.  I can notice a big change when I look in the mirror, and my belt is a bit loose.

What are your future goals?

To keep going!  I most likely will do at least one day a week with Kurtis, and supplement two other days a week at Prairie Life.  I truly don’t have the time to seriously dedicate what it’d take to get to fitness model status, but with Kurtis’s help, I’ve formed some really positive new habits, and I feel great about them.  My goal is that by the time I’m 40 in a little over two years, I’ll be able to say I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been.

Is there anything you would like to share with others that may be in the place you were to help them?

If you know you want to make a serious change, and are curious about it, I honestly urge you to check out Kurtis and HitchFit.  Before I went in, I was skeptical, but they will work with you on an exercise and diet plan to maximize your personal goal(s).  It’s not a class, or like CrossFit.  It’s old school, ass-kicking, one-on-one.  It’s not going to be easy, and some of the workouts can be brutal, but it’s well worth it.  Kurtis seemed to know pretty quick what I was capable of without risking injury, and was able to push me more than I would have been able to on my own.  You’ll be super sore some days, but in hindsight, you’ll be very happy you made the commitment!”
