I was the biggest and most out of shape I had ever been. For awhile, I tried to deny it by not looking closely in the mirror and avoiding pictured as much as possible. However, in the back of my mind I knew I wasn’t in a place I wanted to be. I was super unhappy with the way I looked. It hit me most when I thought about wedding dress shopping and my wedding. I was so unhappy with the way I looked that I did not even want to think about a dress let alone try one on. My upcoming wedding has been a huge motivator but isn’t really my “why.” My why is that I didn’t want to continue on with that feeling of being unhappy about myself. I finally decided to put all of the energy I spent thinking about wanting things to change into actually doing something to achieve the change I wanted. I am doing this to be better for myself which will allow me to give my best to others.
When I finally made the decision to change, my fiancé decided to do this with me. We started by joining a large-group fitness program and changing our eating by cutting out things we knew were bad for us. After a few months, I decided I really wanted to learn more about the nutrition aspect of weight loss which is what led us to Hitch Fit. We liked the idea that the gym is based on a transformation model and aims to teach you about nutrition and fitness while guiding you through a transformation. We spent 16 weeks working out with Kurtis twice a week. Kurtis really helped us stay focused on our goals and pushed us in the gym. He also monitored our nutrition and reworked our nutrition plan as needed. At the end of the 16 weeks, not only had we seen great changes in our body composition, but we left with a ton of knowledge on both the fitness and nutrition side that we will be able to apply forever to continue with a healthy lifestyle.
My goal for the future is to stay healthy and maintain a body that I am happy with. I want to continue to stay focused and set realistic goals, so I always have something to aim for. Just as they have throughout my entire fitness journey, my goals will continue to change. I don’t want to lose sight of what I want and what I am working for, though, so I always want to remember my goals and have those in mind. Currently, my goal is to tone and work on my body composition.
When you are ready to make a change for yourself, don’t let anything hold you back. Get out there and do what you need to do for yourself. Give it your all, but remember to jump back in if you derail or have a set back. It won’t be easy, but it’s so worth it!
